# Post Selection filters

In Advanced Views, [*Post Selections*](/advanced-views/getting-started/first-post-selection.md) support filters and allow you to query posts easily.

Basic filters include Post type, Post status, Maximum number, Sort by, and Sort order filters. You can sort by built-in post fields like Title, Author, or Date, as well as by Meta fields or randomly.

## 1. How to use filters

1. Create a new *Post Selection* or edit an existing *Post Selection*.
2. In the **General** tab, **select** your Item Layout then select **Post Types** to filter by.
3. Use *Sort by* and *Sort order* to sort by for e.g. Date or Title, then **select** *Sort order* Ascending or Descending.
4. Click on the **Update** button to publish your *Post Selection* changes.
